Statement on Infection Control

All Staff here at the Centre Practice recognise that we have a duty of care to protect patients, visitors and also ourselves from infection.  Therefore we adhere to the infection control guidelines in the 'Policy for Infection Prevention and Control in General Practice' produced by the Fareham and Gosport Care Commissioning Group.

For many common infections and infectious diseases, early recognition and prompt action can reduce the severity of the illness and the spread of infection.  Thus by adhering to the policy guidelines we aim to ensure high standards of care so as to protect patients, visitors and staff from unnecessary exposure to infection.

In order to ensure these high standards are maintained we have a designated Infection Control Link Nurse and we participate in regular audits both of the cleanliness and general tidiness of clinical and non-clinical areas and also of the practice of infection control by members of staff, for example checking that hand hygiene is correct and appropriate.

In light of the ongoing risk infection from Covid-19 please be assured that we are committed to maintain a Covid safe environment for our patients, visitors and all our staff.  To this end we have altered our working practices in line with government guidelines and have introduced a bi-weekly testing for Covid-19 for all clinical staff.  We will continue to make changes as and when it is necessary to do so.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding Infection Control within the practice then please contact our Practice Manager.
