Primary medical qualification

This is essentially the doctors medical degree. The terminology differs depending on which medical school they trained at but it means the same thing.

MBBS                         -Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery and midwifery

MBChB

Postgraduate qualifications

Membership of Royal Colleges

MRCP                        Membership of the Royal College of Physicians

MRCGP                      Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners

FRCS                         Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons

(Letter "I" at the end denotes Irish Royal College)

Diplomas

DRCOG                      Diploma Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

DGM                          Diploma in Geriatric medicine

DFFP                         Diploma in family planning

FP(cert)                     Certificate in family planning

Dip.hyp                      Diploma in hypnotherapy

DCH                          Diploma in child health
